Born on July 1, 1967 in Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe, Jumbu aka Michael Daniels-Daka
had a turbulent childhood. He attended Martindale and Sunningdale Primary Schools and later Morgan High School. After high
school he worked a bit and then in 1988, he moved to Zurich, Switzerland where he has lived ever since.
At 24, he started to play bass. He has played in a couple of formations
such as Jah Creation - All African Band, African Connection and Winchester.
He has just recorded his debut CD at Blue Mountain Studio, with some of
the top musicians in Zurich. His CD entitled "JUMBU PART ONE" will be released in Zimbabwe through the Silent Noise label.
Jumbu, a father of three is a qualified geriatric nurse by profession. His music is quite refreshing, a mixture of styles
and influences.
His previous project the MD BAND was is in the Extravaganza
competion. They came first in the preliminary rounds. Now he has founded the NGONI Band. It is a in continuation with his
quest to conquer the Zimbabwean music scene.
Even after 15 years living in away from his place of birth, he hasn't lost
that Zimbabwean touch.
